Did you know that there are ways to use ChatGPT to make money?

You can use ChatGPT to help you come up with ideas, write faster, or just get things done when you’re feeling stuck.

And believe it or not, people are using tools like ChatGPT to make more money (extra income as well as even full-time income!) and work faster.

Personally, I’ve been using different AI (artificial intelligence) tools and seeing what they can do. I’ve used ChatGPT in many different situations, such as helping me with outlines for blog posts, brainstorming new ideas, writing better email newsletters, and even planning content calendars. It’s not magic (and AI tools like ChatGPT can make a lot of mistakes), but it can make working online so much easier.

If you’re wondering how to use ChatGPT to make money, in today’s blog post, I go over what ChatGPT is, how it works, and 10 real ways to use ChatGPT to earn an income.

What Is ChatGPT?

Before we begin, I want to talk about what exactly ChatGPT is.

It is a free tool created by OpenAI that is like a virtual assistant. You can ask it questions, have it help you write things, and even come up with new ideas. Its answers sound like a real person, and it learns by looking at tons of information online.

You can use it to help with writing emails, blog posts, social media captions, product descriptions, and so much more. And if you’re not great at writing or you’re short on time, this can be a game changer. I like to think of it as my brainstorming buddy that never ever runs out of energy.

You can use it for other things as well. In fact, earlier today, I actually used ChatGPT to diagnose an issue my air conditioner was having, and it was correct! I was able to fix it after explaining my issue and what was going on to ChatGPT.

I find that it’s really easy to use (it could not be any easier), and you don’t need to be a tech expert to use it. You can just type your question or request, and ChatGPT will reply in seconds.

Pros of ChatGPT include:

  • Free to start (They do have options where you can pay for upgraded answers. I personally pay for a monthly plan.)
  • Saves time on writing and brainstorming
  • Easy to use, even for beginners

Cons include:

  • The answers it gives you aren’t always correct, so you DEFINITELY still need to fact-check. I would never just copy and paste what ChatGPT gives me. For example, I use it to help me write outlines, not write full blog posts. I have had ChatGPT give me such odd responses at times that make no sense, or sometimes it’s so obviously wrong that I feel crazy.
  • Can sound robotic if you copy and paste without heavy editing. I do not recommend just copying and pasting – I don’t think I can say this enough.
  • Doesn’t replace human creativity; it just supports it.

I do also want to say that you need to be mindful of copyright and plagiarism issues when using AI-generated content. You should not copy and paste everything. So, please make sure you edit and add your own voice (such as your own experiences or firsthand tips), as that’s how you’ll stand out in a crowd where nearly everyone is using AI these days.

Best Ways To Use ChatGPT To Make Money

Below are the different ways you can use ChatGPT to make money from home.

1. Writing

If you’ve ever thought about making money writing but felt overwhelmed, ChatGPT can help you get started faster. You can ask it to create outlines, help you create new ideas, or help reword content so it flows better.

For example, if a freelance writing client wants a blog post about travel tips, you can say, “Write an outline about travel tips and here are past articles I’ve written so that you can learn my writing style,” and ChatGPT will give you a pretty good outline. Then, you can add what you think may be missing or make other changes. Or, you can feed it an outline that you’ve written and ask ChatGPT what else you should add to make the outline better.

Now, I don’t recommend using ChatGPT to write the actual article, unless you’re ready to heavily edit it in the end. I find that most freelance writing clients prefer that you do not use AI to write the actual article anyway.

You can sell your services on websites like Upwork, Fiverr, or even pitch directly to blogs (many pay for articles!).

2. Digital printable ideas

Printables are digital files people download and print at home, like planners, habit trackers, checklists, or kids’ activity calendars. You can use ChatGPT to help think of new ideas for these, too!

For example, say you want to make a “self-care planner.” You can ask ChatGPT to help you generate 30 days of self-care tips or journal prompts, and then you can format that into a PDF using Canva.

Another idea is to ask ChatGPT for new ideas for printables that you should create. You can send it examples of other printables you have created, or your niche, and ask it to give you 100 more ideas. Then, you can pick through the list and make them – I think it’s a great way to come up with new ideas that you may not have thought of yet!

Then, you can list your printables for sale on Etsy or Gumroad. Once they’re up, you can sell them over and over again, which I think is a great way to make passive income.

3. Make money blogging

Blogging is one of my favorite ways to make money online, and ChatGPT can help you blog as well.

Now, I’m not saying that you should use ChatGPT to write your content. There are so many other helpful ways that you can use ChatGPT so that you can get things done faster and work less.

ChatGPT can help you:

  • Think of new blog post ideas. For example, you can type that your blog topic is “how to homestead in the suburbs” and ask it to give you 50 blog post ideas.
  • Write outlines.
  • Update past content. For example, you can use it to refresh older blog posts by suggesting new angles or tips. You can paste in the old content and ask, “How can I improve this post?” too.
  • Get help writing better email subject lines or titles.
  • Repurpose content – You can turn one blog post into a social media thread, a podcast outline, or a YouTube script, all with the help of ChatGPT.
  • Think of new affiliate marketing products to promote.
  • Evaluate your past blog posts that have gone viral and ask it to think of similar ideas.

And so many more! I have been blogging for over 10 years and have made over $5,000,000 over the years. I have been using ChatGPT lately to help me in so many different areas of my business, and it is like having an on-demand virtual assistant that I can bounce ideas off of at any time.

4. Sell ebooks or guides

If you have knowledge about a topic like parenting tips, budgeting, travel hacks, or more, then you can create an ebook or guide and sell it online.

You can use ChatGPT to help you outline the chapters, fill in the content, write a title and sales description, or even upload the content you’ve written to ChatGPT and ask what it may be missing or how you can improve it.

5. Become a virtual assistant

Virtual assistants (VAs) help business owners with tasks like writing emails, managing social media, or updating blog posts. ChatGPT can help you do these tasks faster and more efficiently.

For example, if a client wants 10 Instagram captions, you can ask ChatGPT to help write them. Then, you can edit (remember, you should always read and edit) and schedule them. This can save you hours and make your services more valuable.

There’s a huge demand for virtual assistants right now (I have one myself!), and this is a flexible way to make money from home.

6. Run a YouTube channel or podcast

If you’ve ever dreamed of creating a YouTube channel or podcast but felt stuck on what to say, then ChatGPT can help you write scripts, plan episodes, and think of better titles.

You could ask it, “Give me 10 video ideas for a channel about budgeting for families,” and it will generate titles, outlines, and even talking points. From there, you can record your content and post it online.

Once you build an audience, you can earn money through ads, sponsorships, affiliate links, and digital products.

7. Sell resume help

A lot of people struggle to write a good resume. If you know how to make a good resume, you could use ChatGPT to speed up your process.

For example:

  • It can help you write or edit resumes by turning a person’s job history into bullet points that sound better.
  • Tailor resumes to specific job postings using keywords.
  • Create strong, customized cover letters.
  • You can also sell LinkedIn profile rewrites.

This is a great service to sell on Fiverr or LinkedIn, and you can charge $30 to $100+ per project.

8. Create an online course or workbook

If you enjoy teaching others, you can use ChatGPT to help create your own online course. It can outline lessons, write lesson descriptions, and help you design worksheets or prompts.

For example, if you want to teach “how to budget for beginners,” you can ask ChatGPT to break it into 5 modules, then fill in each lesson with tips, examples, and action steps.

You can sell courses on platforms like Teachable or your own website.

9. Start an email newsletter

Email newsletters are still one of the best ways to grow an audience and make money online. I send newsletters every week to my readers, and it’s a big part of my business.

ChatGPT can help you write better subject lines, write email content, or come up with ideas for what to share. You can then add affiliate links, promote your own products, or send readers to your site.

You can start small, even just one email a week, and grow from there.

For my email list, I use Kit because they make it easy to manage my newsletter email list and send high-quality emails.

10. Make social media content faster

Small businesses are always looking for help with social media management, and you can offer to create posts for them and use ChatGPT to save time.

For example, you can ask it to write captions for Instagram, short-form video ideas, or content calendars. Then add your design in Canva or any graphic tool you like (as well as heavily edit the words still, of course!).

I think this is a great service for freelance beginners because there’s so much demand right now.

Frequently Asked Questions About How To Make Money With ChatGPT

Below are answers to questions you may have about how to use ChatGPT to make money.

How can I use AI to earn passive income?

You can use ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas for digital products like ebooks, templates, or online courses that you sell again and again. Once the product is created, you don’t have to keep working to earn money from it.

How do I use ChatGPT effectively?

To use ChatGPT effectively, I think you should be specific with what you ask. For example, instead of saying “Write an outline,” say “Write an outline about 10 tips for saving money at the grocery store,” and also feed it your older content so that it can learn your style. Plus, I highly recommend that you always review what it gives you, and make sure to edit and personalize it with your expertise. For example, before I ask ChatGPT to do something for me, I usually feed it a lot of different information about myself, the content I’ve written in the past (for example, I will give it links to my blog posts), and screenshots.

How can I make easy money with ChatGPT?

You can start with services like resume writing, thinking of new ideas, or creating social media captions. You can find clients on Fiverr, Upwork, or even in your local community. ChatGPT makes these tasks faster, which means you can take on more work or spend less time doing them.

Is it wrong for freelancers to use ChatGPT for services they sell?

No, I do not think it’s wrong as long as you’re using it ethically. ChatGPT is a tool that can help you work faster, think of ideas, and create drafts. Many freelancers use it to speed up their workflow, just like they’d use Canva for design or Grammarly for editing. The important part is that you still add your own expertise, check for accuracy, and customize the work for each client. If you’re honest and delivering high-quality results, then using ChatGPT is totally fine. I think there’s a wrong and a right way to use AI tools like ChatGPT, and some people are definitely lazy with using it and are selling low-quality work. But that doesn’t have to be you! You can use ChatGPT to sell high-quality work that is actually helpful.

What are some fun ways to use ChatGPT to make money?

You can use it to write poems, create funny greeting cards, design trivia games, or write children’s bedtime stories. If you like being creative, then I think that there are tons of ways to turn that into income.
